“Komuniti Kita Tanggungjawab Kita”.

(Riwayat Muslim).

Mengakhiri khutbah ini, khatib menyeru kepada jemaah sekalian supaya sentiasa menginsafi diri semasa tubuh badan masih sihat dan masih bertenaga supaya sama-sama bekerjasama memerangi gejala penagihan dadah. Ambillah mengambil pengajaran dari saranan berikut:

(Surah al-Kahfi : 46).

Friday Sermon Text Be Mindful Of Our Time

Friday Sermon Text 15 February 2019AD / 10 Jamadil akhir 1440H JAWI

Be Mindful Of Our Time

Allah SWT declared in surah al-Asr verses 1 to 3 :“By time! Indeed, mankind is in loss, except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.”

jawi_logo.jpgSyeikh al-Maraghi stated: “All of mankind is in a losing position, except those who have four attributes, namely with faith, perform good deeds, always advising one another with the truth, and always advising one another with patience. After that, they perform good deeds and invite others to do the same.”

Imam al-Bukhari, from Ibn Abbas R.Anhuma, Rasulullah SAW was reported to have said :”Two enjoyments of which mankind is always deceived by them are good health and free time.”

Imam al-Bukhari, from Ibn Abbas R.Anhuma, Rasulullah SAW was reported to have said: “Utilise the five things well before the arrival of the (other) five things: Your youth before you are old, your health before you are sick, your wealth before you are poor, your free time before you are busy, and your life before you are dead.”

Ibn Rajab stated, all those matters would deter us from performing acts of worship, while some would make us forget altogether.

Imam al-Bukhari narrated a hadith from Abdullah bin Umar R.Anhuma, who reported that Rasulullah SAW had said:“May you be like a tourist or traveller while going through this life.”

Therefore, each instant and second must be occupied and be utilised well.

In conjunction with the Federal Territories Tilawah al-Quran, Hafazan and Rahmah Carnival which was held by the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Department on the 13 and 14 of February recently, let us together renew our resolve and tenacity to read and perform tadabbur Al-Quran, so that our time in this world shall be filled with beneficial deeds. Al-Hasan al-Basri Rahimahullah stated: “O, son of Adam, indeed you are part of the days. When a day goes away, surely a part of your life goes too.”

The khatib would like to remind all in the congregartion today to always perform benficial deeds, such as reading the Al-Quran,
performing zikir and enlivening the Houses of Allah SWT. Allah SWT declared in surah at-Taubah verse 18: “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided.”

The conclusions that we can take from the sermon delivered today are as follows:

First: Be mindful of how we utilise our time, for it is among the most precious gifts bestowed by Allah SWT upon mankind.

Second: Fill our time doing various beneficial things, such as performing zikir, reading the Al-Quran, and attending intellectual discourses.

Allah SWT indicated in surah Ibrahim verse 1 :“Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy.”

Khutbah Jumaat : “Bahaya Fitnah”

Khutbah Jumaat 15 Feb 2019M / 10 Jumada al-Akhirah 1440H: JAIS

“Bahaya Fitnah”.

(Riwayat Ahmad).

Kedua: Penabur fitnah bakal mendapat azab kubur.

(Surah Al-Nuur : 19).

Friday Sermon Text:  8 February 2019AD / 3 Jamadilakhir 1440H JAWI

Special Khutbah in Conjuction with Federal Territories Day 2019

Pleasant Territory, Prosperous Community

February 1st, 1974 is definitely a date to be remembered Malaysian history. The moment witnessed the formation of Kuala Lumpur as jawi_logo.jpgthe capital of Malaysia and a Federal Territory, followed by Labuan on April 16th, 1984 and Putrajaya on February 1st, 2001.

Since then, February 1st has been known as Federal Territories Day

The concept of Baldatun Toyyibatun wa Rabbun Ghafur (Good State and the Most Forgiving God) mentioned in Surah Saba' verse 15 is the best model in realizing the ‘Pleasant Territory, Prosperous Community’ slogan. Baldatun Toyyibatun (or ‘Good state’) has its special interpretation among scholars.

Among them is Imam Ibn Kathir Rahimahullah, who explained: "Other interpreters have stated that, a long time ago, in their home, there were no flies, mosquitoes, fleas, and venomous animals. It is due to good weather, a healthy nature, and the care of Allah SWT, that they may obey Him and worship Him." While on Wa Robbun Ghafur (or ‘the Most Forgiving God’), he says "that is your God, Most Oft-Forgiving, if you continue to obey Him".

In conclusion, Baldatun Toyyibatun wa Robbun Ghafur is a land that brings together the best of the environment, the best of its people, the kindness in the world and the good in the hereafter.

The Federal Territories are working towards Baldatun Toyyibatun wa Robbun Ghafur both physically and spiritually.

The environment is a gift bestowed by Allah SWT which is obligatory to be maintained and conserved better. Among the efforts that have been, and are being done, by the Ministry of Federal Territories is the River of Life Project which consists of three components, namely river cleaning, river beautification and commercialization, as well as tourism.

In addition to that, the Ministry of Federal Territories also began promoting the use of biodegradable products, including the ban on the usage of plastic drinking straws at all business premises selling food and beverages, with effect from 1st January 2019

Welfare of citizens in the Federal Territories will continue to be a major concern, particularly in terms of providing assistance to enable the target groups to own a more comfortable home through the Baiti Jannati @ Federal Territory program. It involves several agencies, such as the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), Federal Territory Foundation (YWP) and several interested private corporations.

In addition, the Kuala Lumpur Homeless Transit Centre as a one stop centre for the homeless will continue to be strengthened to provide adequate opportunities and skills to homeless people in order to improve their future. We must also never forget the 28 Zakat Assistance Schemes for the asnaf provided by MAIWP which will continue with its promotions for greater reach.

In the context of human capital development, the Islamic Affairs Department (JAWI) is providing quality Islamic education for primary school goers through the seventy seven (77) primary religious school, one hundred and fifteen (115) KAFA schools and four (4) JAWI Integrated Religious Schools (Siraj) in the three territories, namely Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya. For preschoolers, the Federal Territories Islamic Affairs Council has established eighty one (81) preschools.

The Islamic Affairs Department shall continue to strengthen the management, engagement, and also the infrastructure of mosques through the Standardised Certification for Federal Territories Mosques. The agenda involves eighty five (85) mosques and 110 suraus for Jumaat prayers. The RAHMAH Mosque program which is based on the concept of Friendly (Ramah), Peaceful (Aman), Harmony (Harmoni), Hospitable (Mesra), Environment Friendly (‘Alami) and Respect (Hormat) will continue to be developed in the Federal Territories throughout 2019.

To end this sermon, the following are the takeaways as a reminder for everyone:

First: The slogan "Pleasant Territory, Prosperous Community" should be reflected upon together, and acted on by every member of our multiracial community.

Second: The foundation for the formation of the Federal Territories as Baldatun Toyyibatun wa Rabbun Ghafur is through leaders and the community who are believers performing righteous deeds.

Third: All parties must unite and work together to realize the dream of Baldatun Toyyibatun wa Rabbun Ghafur in accordance with the principles of Rahmatan lil 'Alamin (A mercy to all creations), Maqasid Syariah (the purpose of Islamic faith) and in accordance with the Malaysian mould.

Allah SWT declared in Surah al-A'raf, verse 96:“And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning."

Ku Sangka Intan Rupanya Kaca

(al-Ankabut : 52).
Friday Sermon Text 1 February 2019AD / 26 Jamadilawal 1440H JAWI

Revere The Monarchy, Respect The Nation

Allah SWT has made us his vicegerents on earth. We are responsible to build up and to develop this world, which is not an easy task especially when it is a heavy responsibility, as indicated by Allah SWT in surah al-Ahzab, verse 72:“Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it.jawi_logo.jpg Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant.”

Matters relating to the nation’s leadership is very important and vital in Islam. Among the blessings and love of Allah SWT shown upon certain peoples and nations is that He confers to its citizens the leaders who have conviction.

Islam teaches its followers to inculcate good feelings of patriotism and love for the nation, for the sake of the religion. Prophets of the past especially Prophet Ibrahim A.S. professed his love for his nation in his supplication to Allah SWT.

The basis of his love was for his religious beliefs. This is based on what was stated by Allah SWT in surah al-Baqarah, verse 126:“And [mention] when Ibraham said, "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day." [Allah] said. "And whoever disbelieves - I will grant him enjoyment for a little; then I will force him to the punishment of the Fire, and wretched is the destination."

The love and affection towards a country and motherland is normal for mankind. The key is to practice tolerance in our socialising and daily life.

Obeying leaders who are fair and just is considered obligatory. This has been agreed by a majority of tafsir scholars, jurists and many others. The command comes from Allah SWT. If citizens disobey leaders who are fair and just, then they are also disobeying Allah SWT.

Ponder upon what has been declared by Allah SWT in Surah an-Nisa’ verse 59:“O, you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.”

Looking at the situation today, we should feel very sad and lament, for there exist a handful within the society who condemn the monarchy and its roles. They also profess their hatred towards the institution by ridiculing, disparaging and giving bad names to it in social media.

It is to be considered an agenda to plant the seeds of refusal to accept the monarchy in this country. Surely such actions should be deemed as treason, or ‘bughah’. Imam Muslim Rahimahullah narrated a hadith from Abu Hurairah RA, who reported that Rasulullah SAW said:“Whoever steps out from being obedient/compliant, and distances from the mainstream, and thereafter he dies, surely he would be the same as one who dies ignorant.”

Imam al-Bukhari Rahimahullah narrated from Abu Hurairah RA, who reported that Rasulullah SAW said:“Whoever obeys me, he has surely obeyed Allah and whoever disobeys me, he has surely disobeyed Allah. Whoever obeys my leaders, then he has surely obeyed me, and whoever disobeys my leaders, then he has surely disobeyed me.”

The hadith clearly indicates that the net effect of disobeying the advice and orders of leaders who call to Islam is the same as disobeying the Prophet SAW. Disobeying the Prophet SAW is the same as disobeying Allah SWT.

The takeaways from today’s sermon are as follows:

First: Islam commands its followers to obey leaders, for so long as they do not command the doing of evil towards Allah SWT.

Second: Islam prohibits acts of treason, or bughah, towards leaders, or humiliating, professing acts of challenging or belittling them.

Third: Islam teaches its followers to have the spirit of patriotism, respecting leaders and loving the nation for the sake of Islam.

Allah SWT declared in surah al-Ahzab verse 70 and 71:“O, you who have believed, fear Allah and speak words of appropriate justice. He will [then] amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.”

Jom Berjemaah Di Masjid

(Surah al-Taubah : 18).
Friday Sermon Text 25 January 2019AD/ 19 Jamadilawal 1440H JAWI

A Successful Family Leads To A Prosperous Nation

Islam is a religion that offers virtue and benefit to all mankind. The teachings of Islam is in fact built for the purpose of handling mankind’s concerns for their peaceful life in this world and in the Hereafter.
jawi_logo.jpg
Therefore, the teachings of Islam as a whole is fair, provides benevolence and benefit to all mankind, and wisdom to all.

All matters would be for the purpose of preserving ‘usul al-khams’, namely religion, life, intellect, possessions and progeny, which are known as maslahah, or public interest, while those which bring harm are known as mafsadah, or public harm.

In achieving the aims of the syariah, all parties including leaders, citizens, heads of families and their members must play their respective roles and responsibilities. In fact all who have such responsibilities shall be enquired upon by Allah SWT in the Hereafter, with no exceptions.

Imam al-Bukhari narrated a hadith from Abdullah bin ‘Umar RA, who reported that Rasulullah SAW had said: “Let it be known by everyone that each of you are leaders, and each of you are responsible for your leadership.”

In managing and administering a nation, each policy, rule and administration which leads to benefit for the nation and its inhabitants is
part of the maqasid syariah, or objectives of the syariah.

All benefits are given attention to, and each harm is monitored and avoided. A quality administration provides what has been illustrated in the Al-Quran in surah Yusuf, verses 47 to 48:“Yusuf said, "You will plant for seven years consecutively; and what you harvest leave in its spikes, except a little from which you will eat. Then will come after that seven difficult [years] which will consume what you saved for them, except a little from which you will store.”

Under the realm of protecting possesions and progeny, the family institution is responsible for the aspects of education, financial management, conviction, worship, morals, ethics, knowledge, culture, physical, spiritual and so on.

In the financial management of a family, for example, each head of a family must ensure that the source of income of the family is from a halal source, and would use it only for matters that are halal and with prudence.

Besides that, each head of family must realise their responsibilities towards the society and the nation by giving donations and paying zakat, taxes, and outstanding debts with any financial institutions, and so on.

There is nothing that we hope for from the family institution except gaining the blessings and rewards from Allah SWT. Allah SWT declared in surah al- A’raf, verse 96:“And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning."
Good financial management in a family institution guarantees the future survival of its members. Indeed, the family institution is very much connected to the nation.

As such, good management of family finances is the crux of a nation’s economic strength. We should realise that a nation’s development and progress could never happen if the family institutions within it are ruined and damaged.

The converse is also true, where it is impossible for the nation to be destroyed if the family institutions of its citizens are strong.

26th January every year marks the celebration of International Customs Day and this year marks the thirty seventh (37th) year it is celebrated by our country. Their roles and responsibilities are not easy to undertake, considering that they deal with mankind’s avarice and commercial considerations.

Let us now consider the conclusions that may be taken from the sermon today:

First: Muslims must infuse the maqasid syariah, or objectives of the syariah, into the administrative affairs of the nation and the family institution.

Second: We must give full attention to the family institution’s management, strategic income and spending, payment of zakat, paying of debt and taxes.
Third: Each leader and citizen must take their roles and responsibilities seriously towards ensuring the nation’s development is managed and performed well.
Allah SWT declared in surah al-Taubah, verse 71:“The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. “Keharmonian Hidup Dalam Masyarakat Majmuk”.

(Surah Saba’ : 28).
Friday Sermon Text 18 January 2019AD/ 12 Jamadilawal 1440H JAWI

A Strong Mosque, A Blissful Ummah

The mosque is an institution of the Muslim Ummah which plays a number of roles and functions. The mosque is not a place to perform the solat only, but more than that.
jawi_logo.jpg
The role of mosques when first established was more focused towards the main policies, such as those relating to the affairs of the state, discussions on warfare strategies, community centre, economic and welfare centre, and as a place to unite the great Ummah.

Allah SWT in surah At-Taubah verse 18, which was read earlier, and has the following meaning: “The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided.”

In general, enlivening the mosque includes matters of administration, the performance of worship, welfare, education, cleanliness, economy and proselytization.

It cannot be denied that mosques have organised religious events such as intellectual discourses, talks, forums, courses and so on. But, in order to ensure the success of such programmes, there are challenges to be faced.

For that, the mosque must create many programmes that cater to such groups. Besides that, the mosque must be creative in promoting activities and information regarding the mosque through the social media, aside from the usual print media.

The programmes organised would have to be even more attractive, with various activities other than the talks that have been routinely organised by mosques.

At the same time, it is also suggested that mosques provide wi-fi facilities in order to attract more of the community and its youths to it.

A few proposals to strengthen the mosque’s economy are as follows:
First: Multiply the methods to contribute and donate.
Second: Establishing a mosque cooperative.
Third: Investing mosque funds into Islamic banking and financial institutions.

Fourth: Involved in suitable businesses.
Fifth: Investing in services, such as offering for rental the halls and other available facilities at the mosque, offering spaces for programmes that would generate the economy, management of funerals, marriages, hajj and umrah, and related programmes.

The mosque is also a place where the finances of the Ummah may be assisted. The role of the mosque could be seen in assisting the society in need, through programmes at the mosque.

A good enlivening and economic programme does not fully depend on the mosque’s personnel and committee. But, those who live around it and those who frequent it in congregation must also work together to ensure the smooth running and administration of a mosque.

Among the roles that has to be played by the congregation are:

First: Strengthening the mosque finances through financial contributions.

Second: Contributing ideas and suggestions.
Third: Contributing energy.

To end the sermon today, the mimbar would like to remind all fellow congregation of the following:
First: The mosque is a place to secure the ties between man and Allah SWT, and between man themselves.
Second: The mosque must be ingenious enough to organise programmes that would enliven and strengthen the economy of the mosque so that it would generate benefit for the Ummah.
Third: All parties must work together in ensuring that the mosque shall undertake activities that would enliven it and strengthen it economically.

Allah SWT declared in Surah al-Baqarah verse 114:  “And who are more unjust than those who prevent the name of Allah from being mentioned in His mosques and strive toward their destruction. It is not for them to enter them except in fear. For them in this world is disgrace, and they will have in the Hereafter a great punishment.”
