KUALA LUMPUR: Registration for Haj pilgrimage by depositors of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) using their contributions to the fund received encouraging response with 24,000 depositors signing up since it was launched on Jan 3.
EPF Public Relations general manager Nik Affendi Jaafar said the facility enabled the low-income EPF contributors to perform the fifth tenet of Islam using their savings in the fund.
"Members who are eligible for this facility are Malaysian citizens or permanent residents who are Muslims below the age of 55 and having a savings account with Tabung Haji.
"Members who are interested to register must have at least RM1,300 in the EPF account 1," he said in a statement Monday.
